High-rise building concept
We prepared a concept plan for a high-rise building to the dynamically developing capital of the Urals. It was a special experience to visit the territory of the supposed Magna Hungaria, the world of steppes and taiga forests. The complexity of the historical stratification of the place is also reflected in the architectural concept.
Scale: net 40.000 m2
The planned building is 100 meters high and contains residential, commercial and catering functions. With its characteristic appearance, it can become a defining element of its environment. The project creates a direct connection with the Iszety River, which bisects the city.
The unusual mass of the building was formed by the features of the urban environment and the adaptation to the cooler weather conditions. We maximized the southern facade surfaces, there are no north-facing apartments in the building. The commercial functions were moved towards the busy traffic junction, the apartments further inside, towards the new waterfront promenade.
The facade of the building was inspired by an archaeological find that is even older than the cradle of the Hungarians. The world’s oldest known wooden sculpture, the so-called Shigir Idol was found here. We used the pattern of the 11,000-year-old totem pole, which interestingly speaks the same language as the carved motifs of the 19th-century wooden houses left in the city.
